Independent, not official
ScholarLab is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Pearson, Edexcel or any exam board.
Pearson, Edexcel and other names are trademarks of their owners. We use them only to describe the specification our materials follow.
Our materials
The lessons, questions, answers and activities on ScholarLab are study material written for the site, except for the KS3 past-paper questions described below. They are not official Pearson or Edexcel materials or mark schemes, and our model answers do not show how an examiner would mark your work.
Our KS3 exam practice includes questions adapted from past KS3 National Curriculum Science tests (2003 to 2009, QCA). We have redrawn the diagrams and adapted some parts so they can be answered on screen. This Crown copyright material is reproduced and adapted for educational, non-commercial use. The original copyright remains with the rights holder (QCA/Standards and Testing Agency, Crown copyright).
The other KS3 questions, and all the explanations, model answers and marking guidance, are original to ScholarLab. They are not official mark schemes.
No guarantee of results
We hope ScholarLab helps you learn, but we cannot promise any grade, exam result, university place or other outcome. Use it alongside your teachers, your textbook and official resources.
Accuracy
We work hard to keep the content correct and up to date, but mistakes can happen and specifications change. Always check against the official specification on the Pearson qualifications website and ask your teacher if you are unsure. If you spot an error, please tell us with the “Give feedback” button.
Simulations and data
Our simulations use simplified models and fictional data. They show the ideas behind a practical, not exactly what happens in a real laboratory. Real results vary.
A simulation is not a safety guide. Always follow your teacher’s instructions and your school’s risk assessment for any real practical work.
Careers information
Careers, course and university information is a starting point for your own research. Entry requirements, courses and pay change often, so check with the university, employer or a careers adviser before you make decisions.
Links to other websites
We link to other websites that we think are useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices. A link does not mean we endorse the site.
Limitation of liability
ScholarLab is provided free and “as is”. We do not promise that it will always be available or free from errors. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss that comes from using the site or relying on its content.
Nothing on this page limits any rights you have by law that cannot be limited.
Contact and changes
ScholarLab is run by Dr Evan Murphy. To contact us, use the feedback form and include an email address if you would like a reply. We may update this page from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
